Liu Mingyan steps forward and sideways as Janet's axes come down, so that rather than hitting her blade straight on and threatening to jar it from her hands the blow slides down the blade and behind Liu Mingyan, hopefully overbalancing Janet with her own momentum. As Liu Mingyan completes the motion, stepping past her opponent, Cheng Luan's tip slices clean through the shoulder-seam of Janet's jacket and the blouse beneath, leaving her skin untouched. Liu Mingyan spins to face her again, eyes lingering on that slice of pale shoulder.
